Detecting Candida Infection with in 3 to 4 hours is now possible

New test which can detect Candida infection with in 3 to 5 hours.

To detect Candida infection in a patient would take up to five to six days with and further six days for finding specific type of candida in infection would take further six more days, by this period patient infected with candida infection suffers lot, candida infection may become life threatening in event it is not treated on time.

Inorder to start treatment doctor needs to find out first presence of candida infection and then confirm the specific type of candida infection , then a treatment with specific antibiotic or drug can be initiated, as a wrong broadly used drug may be effective in one may not be so effective in other candida species.

A new test which can quickly find out presence of candida infection is approved by US FDA, it can detect the infection within 3 to 5 hours. Test is called T2Candida Panel and T2Dx Instrument (T2Candida) it can simultaneously detect all following five candida species. Candida albicans and or Candida tropicalis, Candida parapsilosis, Candida glabrata and/or Candida krusei.

T2Candida Panel and T2Dx Instrument (T2Candida) detect candida infection in blood steram by identifying yeast DNA, first it break down yeast cell releasing candida DNA which then replicate more copies which are then detected by magnetic resonance imaging. In event test is negative and still physician observe symptoms of candida infection, blood culture test must be done to confirm a negative result. Otherwise it is found that almost up to 100 percent of negative samples were reported negative in a clinical trial of T2Candida Panel and T2Dx Instrument (T2Candida).

US FDA has approved the test with DeNovo policy of approving novel devices with low or moderate risk and might benefit patients greatly.
